    Nebulae - free google sites template

    Hi all, Yup, still alive and hopefully, things'll be more active around here.

    We'll releasing a heap of new templates in the near future. But in the meantime enjoy the latest template out of the stables. I'll be doing a writeup in the next couple of days and writing up some articles showing you how to recreate and personalise this template. So you can put your own twist on it.

    So stay tuned!

    Introducing the latest template to exit the stables, Sparkle...
    There will be a write-up over the next few days on how you can customize this template to suit your branding and how to integrate the flash banner using gadgets. So stay tuned.

    -Customizing the Sparkle template-

    This template is using, for lack of a better term, a "fake" flash header.

    This "fake" header is created using a flash embed gadget wrapping a custom flash swf file. The logo/header has been disabled and the flash gadget is sitting in the uppermost panel in the three column layout.

    I found the XML for the gadget
    here and made some slight edits to make it fit the site a bit better. I then made a simple flash swf which I uploaded as an attachment for the gadget to draw from.

    If you'd like to do this for your site and need help drop us a line at the
    getheme discussion group and we'll try to help out. If there's enough interest I'll write up a walkthrough.

    One bug that the template suffers from is the fact that the site content drops while the background image stays static.

    This only happens when you're in edit mode, or when you've submitted the site as a template. This causes a banner to appear at the top and the content will drop down relative to the banner size. Otherwise it'll look normal.

    Let us know if you love/like/hate/despise it.

    Blue - free google template by gethemes.com

    Blue - free google template by gethemes.com
    Here's another new template for you. This one's called "Blue" (for obvious reasons).

    Since all the templates that've created are a little different from each other, I thought with each release we'll give a break down on what's been changed and where. So when you want to personalise them you can find the elements easily.

    1)  I'll start off with the blue bar running across the header, this is situated in;
    More actions > Manage site > Colors and Fonts > Entire page > Page background image
    2)  Logo located in;
    More actions > Manage site > Site layout > Header
    3)  Border surrounding the Menu and Content area;
    More actions > Manage site > Colors and Fonts > Entire page > Page wrapper background image
    4)  Spiel and image in the header;
    More actions > Manage site > Colors and Fonts > Site header > Site header background image
    Well there you have it, if you have any questions or need help getting this template up and running on your site let us know on the discussion group and we'll do our best to lend a hand.
    Stay tuned for the next release, same bat time... same bat channel. peace.

    Blogified free google template by gethemes.com
    Blogified is another dark themed template making gratuitous use of transparent PNGs to add a bit of a different flavour to the google sites back-end.

    I'm a big fan of the white text on a dark background but I'm thinking the next template will be a bit more traditional (whatever that means).

    This template was more of an exercise of experimentation and testing the limits of the google sites. So get out there... go on and push those boundaries.

    As usual we'll have the have a zip containing all the elements used to create the site along with the values used.
